OWINGS MILLS, Md.

Medifast, Inc. announced today the successful launch of Maintain by Medifast™, a line of low-carbohydrate, diabetic friendly products, on a National Multi- Channel Television Retailer. The introductory sales generated from the clinically proven weight management products exceeded expectations.

"This successful launch is just another example that medically recommended portion-controlled engineered meal replacement foods are attractive to consumers," says Brad MacDonald, Medifast's CEO. "At a time when nutritional misguidance is running rampant, this launch shows that people are looking for a clinically proven, safe and effective way to reach their nutritional goals even during the diet 'off-season.'"

The show featured Dr. Joe DiBartolomeo, Medifast's Vice President of Clinical Affairs. Dr. DiBartolomeo has over 20 years of experience in the weight loss industry including a Doctorate in Health Education, specializing in nutrition and weight management, from the University of Maryland. "We were able to support the entire network of Primary Care Physicians by referring all customers for medical monitoring prior to starting their program," says Dr. DiBartolomeo. "This is the cornerstone of the Medifast philosophy."

The line of low-glycemic shakes, bars and soups is backed by an ongoing clinical study whereby participants achieved a weight loss of up to 2 pounds per week by incorporating the products into a 1200- to 1500-calorie-per-day meal plan. Consumers overwhelmingly chose the monthly program over the weekly sampler program.

The Company will continue to roll-out and expand the sale of Maintain by Medifast throughout 2004.

This release contains forward-looking statements, which may involve known, and unknown risks, uncertainties and other factors that may cause Medifast's actual results and performance in future periods to be materially different from any future results or performance suggested by these statements. Medifast cautions investors not to place undue reliance on forward-looking statements, which speak only to management's expectation on this date.
