Medifast to Launch New `Maintain by Medifast™' Low-Carbohydrate Program on National Television Retailer; Medifast Plus for Diabetics Receives Official Patent; Medifast Continues to Extend Product Line with 5 New Meal Replacement Products

Medifast, Inc. announced today, plans to launch a new competitive low- carbohydrate, weight management program. Maintain by Medifast™ will be tested on a National Multi-Channel Television Retailer starting in June and is expected to launch in July. The line of low-glycemic shakes, bars and soups has been clinically proven to afford a weight loss of up to 2 pounds per week by incorporating the products into a 1200 to 1500 calorie per day meal plan. This program is incremental to the Company's National Television Advertising Campaign.

"If low carbohydrate is what the consumer wants, that is what we will give them," says Brad MacDonald, CEO of Medifast. "Industry research has determined that the low-carb craze is a trend that could last for many years to come. We believe this line of clinically proven products will give us a huge advantage over the competition."

The company is also proud to announce that its Medifast Plus for Diabetics Shakes recently received an official patent (patent number 6,706,697) from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The Company's Diabetic shake formulation is protected for twenty years from others producing, manufacturing and marketing goods incorporating the product. The Company intends to build its intellectual property through additional patents on its other leading line of products.

In addition, the Company has continued to expand its line of great tasting meal replacement supplements. Most recently the Company launched a Fruit and Nut Granola Bar and Creamy Cappuccino, Tropical Punch and Cranberry Mango Punch meal replacements; all with 24 essential vitamins and minerals and less than 160 calories per serving. In addition the company has added a Garden Vegetable Cracker to its snack offerings. The Company has continued to serve its customers through the development of new products to help its customers avoid taste fatigue and boredom. Medifast has one of the most extensive low- calorie, balanced carbohydrate and soy-based products in the weight loss industry.
