OWINGS MILLS, Md.

Medifast, Inc. announced today that its Chairman and CEO, Bradley T. MacDonald, was elected to the Board of Directors for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation on June 6, 2003.

Started in 1947, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is governed by a board of directors, all of whom are successful business leaders from throughout the nation. All directors served as U.S. Marines. The primary goal of the Foundation is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

"I am extremely honored to be a member of this prestigious foundation that is dedicated to children and their future success," says MacDonald. "Medifast is delighted with the opportunity to support the Toys for Tots Foundation as it relates to our mission of helping obese children with our Fit! line of adolescent meal replacement products. The Toys for Tots program provides the Marine Corps with the opportunity to give something back to the communities which have unselfishly shared their sons and daughters with the Corps for over 220 years."

Additionally, the Consumers' Research Council of America honored Medifast's Medical Director, Dr. Wayne Andersen, in May 2003. Dr. Andersen was named a top physician in critical care and nutritional intervention. The award is based on specific criteria pertaining to experience, training, professional associations and board certifications.

"Observing the role nutrition plays in the recovery of critical illness, I have now re-directed my total focus in using nutrition to help people optimize their life," says Dr. Andersen. "Nutritional intervention needs to be brought into the forefront as the first line of defense in recovery from disease and illness. Pharmaceuticals and surgery should be a method of last resort."

Consumers' Research Council of America provides consumers' information guides for professional services throughout America. It is their purpose to help educate and assist consumers in obtaining the finest professional services.
