OWINGS MILLS, Md., Sept. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Medifast, Inc. (NYSE: MED), a leading United States manufacturer and provider of clinically proven weight-loss and healthy living products and programs, today announced that it is partnering with Rebuilding Together Baltimore for volunteer efforts to provide critical home repairs.
Rebuilding Together Baltimore, an affiliate of Rebuilding Together®, is a nonprofit that brings volunteers and communities together to provide critical home repairs to help improve the lives of low-income homeowners. Rebuilding Together Baltimore has repaired more than 1,300 homes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
On September 25th, volunteers from Medifast, along with Rebuilding Together Baltimore, will provide upgrades and renovations to a homeowner's property in Baltimore's Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood. The homeowner, who worked in hospital admissions before retiring, bought her house 20 years ago. The neighborhood, under-resourced for decades, was recently identified by Baltimore City as an area to revitalize by reinvesting in vacant properties.
"We are honored to support Rebuilding Together's work to revitalize the Baltimore community and help provide a safer and more comfortable space for a local homeowner," said Michael MacDonald, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Medifast. "Our employees are deeply committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work."
Medifast volunteers will provide home safety repairs, energy efficiency improvements and home modifications that will make it easier for the homeowner to age in place. Volunteers will also beautify a nearby park and alley in the community.
